Sunita Williams to visit India on April 1

Indian American astronaut Sunita Williams, who holds the world record for the longest spaceflight by a female astronaut, will start her India trip on April 1 from the national capital. Williams will visit the National Science Centre (NSC) in the national capital on April 1 and interact with students and teachers.Next  she will visit a working women’s hostel managed by the Indian Council of Social Welfare in Chembur and talk to residents and students. Her final destination in India would be Gujarat, where she is expected to meet relatives and pay a visit to her ancestral village. Williams, who was bestowed an honorary doctorate degree by the Gujarat Technical University, will address students there.Williams last visited India in October 2007, when she gave a talk at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.


NTPC commissioned New Solar Power Project in Andaman & Nicobar

On March 30,NTPC Ltd has commissioned a 5-MW solar photo-voltaic power project at Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.It is the first grid-connected solar photo-voltaic project in these islands and also the first greenfield renewable solar PV project of NTPC.


Miami Open Tennis Tournament 2013 Winners

Women’s Singles :- On 30 March Serena Williams won a record sixth Miami title as she came from a set and a break down to beat Maria Sharapova in the Sony Open final.
Men’s Singles:- Britain’s Andy Murray won the Men’s Singles title after defeated Spain’s David Ferrer in a gruelling Miami Masters final.Ferrer’s only win over Murray off clay was at the 2011 ATP World Tour Finals.The victory brought him 26th career title.
