Russian Film ‘Leviathan’ Won Golden Peacock at IFFI 2014
Russian film Leviathan won the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for the best film while Marathi movie Ek Hazarachi Note won the Centenary award at the 45th International Film Festival Of India, which concluded in Goa on 30 November. Srihari Sathe, director of Ek Hazarachi Note, received the award on behalf of the team. Ek Hazarachi Note also bagged the Special Jury Award. Best female actor award went to Alina Rodriguez for Behavior and Sarit Larry for The Kindergarten Teacher. ‘Leviathan’ star Alexis Serebryakov shared the best actor award with Dulal Sarkar of Chotoder Chobi. The award for best director went to Nadav Lapid for The Kindergarten Teacher. Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Chinese director Wong Kar-wai.
P.V. Sindhu Won Macau Grand Prix Gold Badminton Title
Indian woman badminton player P.V. Sindhu won Macau Grand Prix Gold Badminton Title on 30 November. Sindhu defeated Kim Hyo Min of Korea in the women’s singles final.This was the first title for her in 2014 season. She had lost the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold final to fellow Indian Saina Nehwal in January this year.
Major General Gadi Eizenkot is 21st IDF Chief of Staff
Major General Gadi Eizenkot has been appointed as the 21st Chief of Staff of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). He succeeded Lt Gen Benny Gantz. He is the current chief of staff of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). He is due to step down in February 2015.
