Economic Affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das nominated to RBI Central Board by Union Government

Economic Affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das has been nominated to the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He has nominated by the Union Government in place of Ajay Tyagi. 10 Directors are nominated by Union Government in order to represent important elements from India’s economy.


BRICS countries signed Moscow Declaration for supporting Multilateral Science Projects 

BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa agreed for co-investment of resources for supporting multilateral R&D projects in mutually agreed areas. The BRICS nations signed a joint Declaration called Moscow Declaration at the 3rd meeting of BRICS Ministers for Science, Technology and Innovation held at Moscow on 28th October, 2015. This Declaration reflects BRICS partnership in addressing common global and regional socio-economic challenges, utilizing such drivers as science, technology and innovation (STI).


Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak selected for New York Global Leader Dialogue Humanitarian Award

Socialist and founder of Sulabh International, Bindeshwar Pathak was selected for the prestigious New York Global Leader Dialogue Humanitarian Award. He was selected for his contribution to sanitation and for the betterment of the quality of life for millions of manual scavengers. He will be awarded on 12th April, 2016 in New York.


Saudi blogger ‘Raif Badawi’ wins Europe’s human rights award

Saudi blogger Raif Badawi, who was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for blogging about free speech, has won the Europe’s highest human rights award. The European Parliament on 29th Octoberannounced Badami the winner of the 2015 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. Badawi was arrested on June 2012.
