Kush Bhagat creates history in UAE, Wins 3 gold medals:

Seven-year old Mumbai prodigy Kush Bhagat has achieved a feat by winning all three gold medals on offer in the 1st western Asia youth Chess Championship that included in A1 Ain chess club, UAE on 29th December. The second standard student of the NSS Hill spring International school reigned supreme in all the three categories – rapid, blitz and standard-and achieved the feat of being the only Indian to bag all the crowns in the competition.


Sasikala takes charge as AIDMK general Secretary:
Former CM. J. Jayalalithaa’s close friend V.K. Sasikala on Saturday took charge as the party’s general secretary in front of the portraits of her predecessors MGR and Jayalalithaa. She came to the party office in the same car used by Jayalalithaa amidst slogans by partymen greeting the New leader. On entering the party office she garlanded the MGR statue and paid floral tributes to a portrait of Jayalalithaa in the office entrance.


World’s highest bridge opens in China:

The World’s highest bridge opened to traffic in China, connecting two south western provinces and reducing travel time in the region by three quarters. The 4400-foot long Beipanjiand bridge has a height equivalent to a 200-story building, which makes it the world’s highest bridge down to the ground or water surface. Construction on the bridge spanning the Beipanjiang Valley began in 2013. It was taken nearly 3 years.


CSL completes delivery of FPVs to coast Guard:

The Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has successfully completed construction and delivery of 20 fast patrol vessels (FPV) for the Indian coast Guard (ICG). ICGS Ayush, 20th vessel in the series, was delivered on 30th December, three months ahead of schedule. ICGs Ayush will be operated from the coast Guard station at Krishnapatnam.


Narender Batra resigs as IOA associate Vice President:

Senior functionary Narender Batra on Friday resigned as the associate Vice-President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) as a mark of protest against the IOA for not taking back its decision to appoint scam-tainted Suresh kalmadi and Abhay Singh Chautala as honorary life presidents. Batra, who recently became the International Hockey Federation (FIH) president, said he was strongly against the back door entry of kalmadi and Chautala in the IOA.


Cash with drawn limit from ATM’s increased to Rs.4,500:

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that cash with drawl limit from ATMs will be increased to Rs.4,500/- per day from the current Rs.2,500/- from January 1st, 2017, However there has been no change in the weekly withdrawal limit, which stands at Rs.24,000 including from ATM’s for individuals (Rs.50,000 in case or small traders)


Romania’s president appoints “Sorin Grandeanu as PM:

Romamian President Klaus Iohannis on 30th December designated Social Democrat Sorin Grinndeanu as the country’s new Prime Minister. Grindeanu 43, former minister for telecommunications in victor ponta’s Govt, has 10 days to come up with a cabinet and pass a confidence vote in parliament.


India, Singapore 3rd protocol for amending DTAA:

India and Singapore have amended the DTAA for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income by signing a Third Protocol today. This is in line with India’s treaty policy to prevent double non-taxation curb revenue loss and check the menace of black money through automatic exchange of information. as reflected in India’s recently revised treaties with Mauritius and Cyprus, the joint declaration signed with Switzerland.
