MS Dhoni Named Captain of ICC ODI Team

Team India captain MS Dhoni has been named as the captain of ICC ODI Team of the Year 2014. Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews has been named as the captain of the Test side that also includes two more Sri Lankans, Kumar Sangakkara and Rangana Herath. Meanwhile, Dhoni has been selected in the ICC ODI Team of the Year for the eighth time, while it is the fifth year he has been appointed captain. Other Indian players in the squad are Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami and Rohit Sharma.


Environment Educationist Erach Bharucha gets ‘Earth Hero’ Award

A pioneer of environment education in India, Erach Bharucha, has been named for the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) ‘Earth Hero’ award for this year. Bharucha is currently the Director of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in Pune.


Indian-American Niraj Antani Becomes Youngest US Lawmaker

Niraj Antani, a 23-year-old Indian-American student was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives, becoming one of the youngest state lawmakers in the US. A law student at the University of Dayton, he is the youngest Ohio State legislature so far. He defeated 62-year-old Patrick Morris of the Democratic Party. Antani graduated from Ohio State University in spring last year with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is the second Indian American – after Jay Goyal who served 3 terms from 2006 from the 73rd District – in the Ohio House.
