John O’Keefe, May Britt Moser, Edvard I Moser Won Nobel Prize In Medicine

U.S.-British scientist John O’Keefe and Norwegian scientists May-Britt , Edvard Moser have won the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2014 for discovering an ‘inner GPS’ in the brain. They discovered how the brain knows where we are and is able to navigate from one place to another. Their findings may help explain why in Alzheimer’s disease patients cannot recognise their surroundings.


Oliver Wilson Won First European Golf Title

Oliver Wilson held off Rory McIlroy to win his first European golf title with a one-shot victory in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Wilson played in the 2008 Ryder Cup but lost his European Tour card in 2012 and needed an invite to play at St Andrews.


 Historic UK-Ireland Visa Deal Signed

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Britain and Ireland on new joint Visa cooperation. This MoU was signed by UK home secretary Theresa May and Irish Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald at Irish Embassy in London.


World Habitat Day Observed Across The World

World Habitat day was observed across the world on 6 October 2014. The purpose of this day is creation of the global awareness regarding the State of the towns and cities and the basic human right to adequate shelter. First Monday of October every year is designated as the World Habitat Day by the United Nation. The theme of the World Habitat Day 2013 is Shelter is my Right.


World Bank Released South Asia Economic Focus Report

South Asia Economic Focus report was released by World Bank. As per the report economy will expand by 6 percent in 2015 and by 6.4 percent in 2016. As per report Indian economy will comprise 80 percent of the region’s output, which is set to grow by 6.4 percent in fiscal year (FY) 2015-16 after 5.6 percent in FY 2014-15.
