Two Americans and a German Won the 2013 Nobel Prize for Medicine

Two Americans, James Rothman and Randy Schekman, and Germany’s Thomas Suedhof won the 2013 Nobel Prize on 7 October .They were awarded for their groundbreaking work on how the cell organises its transport system. James Rothman, Randy Schekman and Thomas Suedhof work at the US universities.The three of them discovered the complex transport system in the human body which makes the delivery of the life-saving proteins and molecules at right place and right time. James Rothman, Randy Schekman and Thomas Suedhof work at the Yale University, University of California and Stanford University respectively.


IFC Launches $1 Billion Bond Program To Strengthen India’s Capital Markets

International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group on 7 October has launched a $1 billion offshore bond program—the largest of its kind in the offshore rupee market—to strengthen India’s capital markets and attract greater foreign investment in a time of renewed economic uncertainty across the world. Under the program, IFC will issue rupee-linked bonds and use the proceeds to finance private sector investment in the country.
