Veteran Journalist Vinod Mehta Died

Veteran journalist and author Vinod Mehta was died on 8 March in New Delhi. Mehta, who had founded the Outlook Magazine and served as its Editor-in-Chief, last held the post of editorial Chairman of the publication. An eminent political commentator, Mehta was served as the editor of several publications, including The Pioneer, The Sunday Observer, The Independent and The Indian Post. He has authored a biography of Meena Kumari (movie actress and poet) and Sanjay Gandhi- The Sanjay Story (2012). His other acclaimed work includes memoir Lucknow Boy published in 2012, Editor, How close are you to the PM? (1999) and Bombay: A Private View (1971).


International Women’s Day Observed Across The World

International Women Day was observed across the world on 8 March 2015.  The theme for the year 2015 is Make it Happen and it encourages effective action for advancing and recognizing women. The theme was declared by United Nations. International women’s day is also called Working women’s day. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day. Each year International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on 8 March. The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. For the first time International women’s conference was held in Copenhegen in 1911. The day was proposed by Clara, a German.In some countries International women’s day is an official holiday. All over the world achievements of women are celebrated.


Walmart India Appoints Ashwin Mittal as new CFO

Walmart India has appointed Ashwin Mittal as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Javier Rojo has been assigned to the comReal Estate and Business Development. Ashwin Mittal is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) has rich work experience of 25 years in multinational companies, including Yum Restaurants and Silicon Graphics Cray. He had joined Walmart in 2007 as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. Since then, he had served at various key roles in the company including Head -Business Finance and Strategy, Chief Business Development Officer and Deputy CFO.


‘Aapki Beti Humari Beti’ Scheme Launched In Haryana

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on 8 March launched a scheme for girl child – ‘Aapki Beti Humari Beti’ – with an aim to combat the problem of declining child sex ratio in the state. The scheme was announced at a state-level function on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Panchkula. Under this scheme, the first girl child born on or after January 22, 2015, in SC and BPL families will be eligible to receive Rs 21,000. Similarly, all second girl child born on or after January 22, 2015 of all families will get Rs 21,000.
