Eric Betzig, Stefan Hell, William Moerner Won 2014 Nobel Prize In Chemistry

American scientists Eric Betzig and William Moerner and Germany’s Stefan Hell were announced as the 3 winners of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry on 8 October.  The trio of Betzig, Moerner and Hell were conferred for their contribution in the area of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy which helped in bringing optical microscopy into the nano-dimension. This helped to study molecular processes in real time. Betzig is associated with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (U.S.) while Moerner is at Stanford University.  Hell is Director of the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany.


Anoop Jain Won Waislitz Global Citizen Award 2014

Anoop Jain has won the 2014 Waislitz Global Citizen Award for his work in building sanitation facilities in rural India. Anoop Jain received the award and US$100,000 cash prize for his exemplified values of a global citizen through his work in setting up Humanure Power (HP) in Bihar in 2011 to build community sanitation facilities.


 Indian Air Force Celebrates Air Force Day

Indian Air force celebrated its 82nd Foundation day. 8th October is observed as Indian Air Force Day in India every year. Apart from Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Robin K Dhowan and Army chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also attended 82nd anniversary celebration of the Indian Air Force at Hindon base, as Tendulkar was the first person to be conferred with honourary title of Group Captain.


Union Government Launched Pashmina Promotion Programme

Pashmina Promotion Programme (P3) launched by Union Government at Dehairing Plant Complex, Skalzangling, Leh.Union Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar launched this programme with an aim to increase production of pashmina wool in a time bound manner. It is aimed to increase its production upto 65 tonnes during 12th Five year plan i.e. 2012-2017.Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to launch Pashmina Promotion Programme on 12th August 2014 for improving quality and quantity of pashmina wool so that living standard of poor nomads of Ladakh region can be improved.


“Syntheism: Creating God in The Internet Age” Book Released

The Book titled “Syntheism: Creating God in The Internet Age” authored by Alexander Bard was released.  Syntheism is a word taken by Greek work Syntheos and means humanity creates God – as opposed to the God creates humanity, basis of the traditional monotheistic religions.Alexander Bard is an Activist, musician and a religious leader who founded a new religion called Syntheism, where he claimed that the internet is God. He gives the fact that if man creates God, than it was time to create a religion that is relevant to 21st century.
