International Anti-Corruption Day was Observed On 9 December

International Anti-Corruption Day was observed across the world on 9 December 2014 to raise awareness about the menace of Corruption and what people can do to fight it. The theme for 2014 is  “Break the Corruption chain”, which aims at highlighting how corruption affects every phase of the democratic system and results in world-wide instability. The event came into existence after the General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption on 31 October 2003 and also designated 9 December as International anti-Corruption Day in order to raise awareness of corruption around the world. According to the latest Transparency International report on Corruption Perception index, the top 5 most corrupt countries are Somalia, North Korea, Sudan, Afghanistan and South Sudan. The least corrupt countries in 2014 are Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland.


Azim Premji Awarded with Swiss Ambassador’s Award

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji was awarded Swiss Ambassador’s Award for this inspirational and socially responsible leadership. Swiss Ambassador’s Award was constituted in 2010. The award recognises individuals who have contributed to the promotion of Indo-Swiss relations or have stood out for their exceptional role in society and industry. In past, the award has been conferred on Yash Chopra director – producer of Bollywood ; Ratan Tata Chairman-Emeritus of Tata Sons ; Glenn Saldanha CMD of Glenmark Generics Limited and RV Kanoria, Chief Managing Director of Kanoria Chemicals & Industries Ltd.


Nagaland Governor P B Acharya Takes Additional Charge Of Assam

President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed Governor of Nagaland Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya to take additional charge as the governor of Assam. Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya will continue to hold the additional charge till a new governor is appointed to succeed J B Patnaik, the Governor of Assam, who will be completing his tenure on 10 December 2014.
