India on 8 June 2012 announced to allow foreign direct investment from Pakistan. The move is aimed at strengthening the bilateral economic relations between the two countries. The decision will also facilitate the economic integration in the South Asian region.

“US president Barrack Obama on 11 June nominated Indian-born legal nominated  luminary Srikanth Srinivasan to the Federal Court of Appeals, the highest ever judicial appointment of an  Indian-American in the US. There are 13 Court of Appeals across the US with 179 judges, and the Washington DC Appeals Court to which Srinivasan has been nominated is considered particularly influential, with Obama himself calling it “”the nation’s second highest court.


Dhoni Ranked 31st In The Forbe’s List Of World’s 100 Richest Sports Persons

In the latest list of world’s 100 richest sports persons list released by Forbe’s magazine, Indian Cricket Captain M.S.Dhoni achieve 31st position.He moved ahead in the list, while Tendulkar ranked 78th. Boxing champion Floyd May weather topped the list with a total earnings of $85million while pugilist manny pacquiao and golf legend tiger woods on the 2nd and 3rd .


BRICS Pledger $75billion to IMF’s Bailout Fund

India and four other countries of the five nation BRICS bloc has given a big boost to IMF’s 430 billion US dollars bailout fund for the debt rocked 17 Nation Eurozone pledging to contribute 75billion us dollars  with New Delhi’s contribution being 10 billion US dollars.the pledge was made at an informal meeting of Brics leaders presided by PM Manmoham singh ahead of the opening of the 7th G-20 summit.


Indian Population Booms In Australia: Census Data

Latest official census data in Australia has found a boom in Indian population especially with number of Punjabi speaking people rising by over 200 percent.This is the 16th census taken in Australia over the past 100 years with about 9.8 million households surveyed on August 9 last year.The data revealed Australia’s population rose to 21,507,719, up almost two million – or more than 8 percent -in the past five years, and the median age of the growing population rose from 37 in 2006 to 38 when the census was counted last year. The United Kingdom stood as the leading country of birth for the overseas-born population at 20.8 percent and was followed by New Zealand(9.1 percent), China (6.0 percent) and India (5.6 percent)people of Indian origin have seen the largest growth increase at more than 14 percent since 2006, or up almost 150,000.


IKEA To Invest Rs.10k-cr In India

Amidst a slew of rating downgrade by the international agencies Swedish home furnishing major IKEA on June 22 approached the government with a proposal to invest 1.5billion euros(Rs.10,500 crores) to set up 25 stores in the country under single brand retail FDI.

India & Brazil Set Trade target of $ 15 Billion

India on June 14 ,2012 sought investments from Brazil mainly in infrastructure sector for which it needs US$1 trillion over the next five years. The two countries name set a bilateral trade target of US $ 115 billion  by the year 2012.


India Signed Agreement with Bharain for exchange of Information with Respect to taxes 

India signed an Agreement with the Government of the kingdom of Bharain for the exchange of Information with respect to taxes(TIEA) . The agreement was signed by Namo Narain meena, Minister of state for Finance(Expenditure and Financial Affairs)on behalf of Government of India and H.E. Kamal ahmad, Minister for transportation and Acting CEO of The economic Development of Bhrain on behalf of Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain.The agreement is based on international standards of transparency and exchange of Information. It incorporates provision for effective exchange of information including banking information between tax authorities of the two countries, It has been provided that the Exchange of Information shall be on request and without regard to the domestic interest. The agreement will enhance mutual cooperation between the two countries by having effective exchange of information in tax matters.


MoU signed between India & Canada on Infrastructure development, Operation & Maintanance of Roads

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between India and Canada during the visit of Dr.C.P. Joshi, the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways to Canada on the invitation from dnis Label, Minister of transport, Infrastructure & communication, Government of Canada from 10-13 June,2012.The MoU will facilitate sharing and exchange of knowledge and technical expertise in the areas of infrastructure development, operation and maintenance of roads, Intelligent Transport system etc.


US Exempt India form Iran Oil sanctions

The US has exempted India and six other nations from its tough Iran oil sanctions. Besides India, Malaysia, South Korea, South Africa, SriLanka. Turkey and Taiwan too have been added to the exemption list, leaving china and Singapore, the top two buyers of Iranian crude.India and South Korea, exempted, were the third and fourth- largest buyers of Iranian oil in the first half of lat year, according to the US Department of energy.


India Worst Place for Women Among top 19 Countries

India’s Women are discriminated against, abused and even killed on a scale unparalleled  in the top 19 economies of the world, according to a new poll by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.The Survey, Polling 370 gender specialists, found
Canada to be the best place to be an woman among G-20 nations, excluding the European Union economic grouping. Saudi Arabia was the second worst, after India.The poll results-based on parameters such as quality of health services, threat of Physical and sexual violence, level of political voice, and access to property and land rights –jars with the modern-day image of India.


Social security agreement between India and Finland signed

India and the republic of Finland signed an agreement on Social security. This agreement will enhance cooperation on social security between the two countries. For short term contract up to 5 years, no social security contribution would need to be paid under the finish law by the detached workers  provided they continue to make social security payment in India, The self –employed Indians in Republic of Finland would also be entitled to export of social security benefit on their relocation to India There are about 5.000 Indians in the republic of Finland most of whom are working as professionals and self-employed.
