Sohail Mahmood to be Pakistan’s new High Commissioner to India

Sohail Mahmood, one of Pakistan’s senior most diplomat, will be country’s new High Commissioner to India. Mahmood 55, currently Pakistan’s ambassador in Turkey. He had applied for the visa from Turkey after being nominated for the key job in India. Mahmood may take up his new assignment at the end of this month or early next months. He will succeeded Abdul Basit who has already completed his three year tenure in New Delhi.


Indian American Nominated for Key Post in FERC

US president Donald Trump Nominated Indian American Neil Chatterjee as a member of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) FERC is an agency responsible for overseeing America’s power grid and deciding on multi billion dollar energy projects. He is the second Indian American appointed by Donald Trump to a major regulatory position.


 Presidential awards for classical Tamil Presented

On May 9, 2017 the President of India. Mr Pranab Mukherjee Presented the “Presidential Awards for classical Tamil” for the year 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 at Rashtrapati Bhavan New Delhi. The Presidential Awards for Classical Tamil were instituted by central Institute of classical Tamil functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development. These awards are presented to distinguished scholars who have made outstanding contribution to classical Tamil language and literature.


 Jhulan Goswami as highest wicket taker in Women’s ODIS

Fast bowler Jhulan Goswami is now the highest wicket taker in one day internationals in the women’s game. Goswami, who now has 181 wickets in 153 matches, Surpassed the world record held by Australia bowled Cathryn Fitzpatrick (180). She achieved this feat with the wicket of No.11 batsman Raisibe Ntozakhe of South Africa. She broke the record in the ongoing match against hosts South Africa in the women’s Quadrangular series in potchefstroom.


 Legendary Sitarist Ustad Rais Khan passes Away

Renowned sitar maestro Ustad Rais Khan passed away in Karachi, Pakistan. He was 77. Ustad Rais Khan was born in Indian city of Indoe, Madhya Pradesh, on 25 November 1939. The Sitarist’s maternal grandfather Inayat Alikhan was also considered one of the finest Sitar players in the sub continent, Ustad Rais Khan was regarded as one of the greatest sitar players of all times. He was belonged to Mewati gharana, which is connected to Indore gharana.


 Moon Jae is as President of South Korea

South Korea liberal leader Moon Jae in took the Oath as President of South Korea. He is expected to strengthen the alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea and to deepen the enduring friendship and partnership between our two countries. Moon, of the Democratic party, took 41.1 percent of votes, far ahead of conservative Hong Joon Pyo, his closest rival on 24.03 percent of votes.


 Odisha CM Unveils Logo and Mascot of Asian Athletics Championships

Naveen Patnaik Unveils Logo and mascot of Asian Athletics Championships. The 22nd Asian Athletics Championship is scheduled to be held at kalinga stadium from July 6 to 9. While the logo depicts an athlete crossing the finishing line with historical tourist attractions of Odisha in the back drop, the mascot is named OLLY that represents the famous Olive Ridley Sea turtle. The State Governments would spend Rs.43 crore for preparation of the grand event.


 World Migratory Bird Day 10 May

The World Migratory Bird Day (WWBD) is observed across the world on 10th May. the theme of WMBD 2017 is “Their Future is our Future A Healthy Planet for Migratory Birds and People”. This day aims to highlight the independence of people and nature, and more specifically people and migratory birds, as they share the same planet and the same limited resources.


 Union Home Minister announced SAMADHAN to tackle of left wing Extremism

A meeting of the Chief Ministers of states affected by Left Wing Extremism or Maoists, Presided over by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was held in New Delhi on May 8, 2017. In this meeting Mr. Rajnath Singh Announced SAMADHAN, a new strategy to wipe out left wing terror. The Other Officials attended by Union Home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Director of Intelligence Bureau and so on.


 Vikram Malhotra Wins 5th PSA Title

India’s Vikram Malhotra won his fifth PSA title after beating Egypt’s Youssef Ibrahim in the final of the Abu Dhabi Open. The US based Indian won 6-11, 11-4, 11-3, 9-11, 13-11 against his opponent. The top seeded Indian, fresh frona Asian Championship held in Chennai, beat Hesham Mohamed Aly of Egypt in the first round thereafter seventh  seed Ahmad Ali Siraj of Jordan in the quarters, both in fluent style. In the semi final he took out Pakistan’s Khawaja Adil Maqbool who retired in the third game after trailing by two games.


 Supreme Court becomes paperless, digital court

The Supreme Court has taken its first step towards becoming a paperless, digital court. PM Narendra Modi  inaugurated the digital filing system at a function in New Delhi, where the integrated case Management System will be connected with the Supreme Court. The event will also be attended by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and judges of the apex court. The Supreme Court of India is the Highest Judicial Forum and final court of appeal.
