Ajai Kumar is appointed as the interim CEO of Yes Bank
Ajai Kumar is appointed as the interim CEO of Yes Bank. He will hold the charge of MD & CEO till the new CEO Ravneet Gill joins the lender. Yes Bank said that the Reserve Bank of India had approved the interim appointment.


India’s Unemployment Rate Hit 4 Decade High of 6.1% in 2017-18: NSSO
As per the National Sample Survey Office’s (NSSO’s) periodic labor force survey (PLFS) India’s unemployment rate hit a 45 year high of 6.1% in 2017-18. It is the first comprehensive survey on employment conducted by a government agency after demonetization.


Interim Budget 2019
Finance minister Piyush Goyal will present the Interim Budget for 2019-20 amid heightened expectations that he will announce an income support scheme for distressed farmers who have seen their incomes stagnate because of plunging prices, barely enough to pay for loans and input costs.


LT Gen Rajeev Chopra takes over as DG NCC
Lt Gen Rajeev Chopra assumed the appointment of Director General of NCC (DGNCC). Commissioned in the Madras Regiment in December 1980, Lt Gen Chopra is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He has been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service.


Health Minister confers ‘Award of Appreciation’

ISRO to get its new communication satellite
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is to get its new communication satellite GSAT-31 aloft in space on February 6 from French Guiana on a hired European rocket. GSAT-31 will replace the INSAT-4CR. GSAT-31 weighs roughly 2,500 kg. The latter with 12 Ku-band transponders was put to orbit in September 2007 to drive what was then a new DTH industry. The launch of Ariane-5 V247 mission is fixed for 2.31 a.m. IST.


Indian Captain Mithali Raj becomes 1st female cricketer to play 200 ODIs
Indian captain Mithali Raj became the first female cricketer to play 200 ODI. The 36-year-old is also the highest run-getter in ODIs with 6622 runs at an average of 51.33. Mithali made her ODI debut way back in 1999 and has featured in 200 games out of the 263 ODIs India have played.


Punit Goenka re-elected as new BARC India chairman
Punit Goenka, managing director and CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd has been re-elected the new chairman of TV viewership measurement company, BARC India. Punit Goenka was the founder of BARC India. Punit Goenka succeeded Nakul Chopra who completed his year-long tenure as chairman.
