ICMR Award for IICT scientist
Prof Upadhyayulu Satyanarayana Murty, chief scientist and head, Biology division of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad has won the ICMR prize for Biomedical Research Conducted in Under Developed Areas for the year 2010.Dr Murthy has been conferred with the award for his contribution in the area of Integrated Control of Vectors and Vector borne diseases like Malaria, Filariasis and Japanese Encephalitis in North Eastern states of India. The award carries a citation and cash prize of `20,000 to be presented by Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, in New Delhi.
China to send second woman into space
China is to send its second woman astronaut into orbit on its longest mission yet, space officials said on 10 June 2013, as the country works towards building a space station.The Shenzhou-10 -- the name means "Divine Vessel" -- will be launched on a Long March rocket on 11 June 2013, Wu Ping, spokeswoman for China's manned space programme, told a news conference.Wang Yaping, 35, the second woman to go to space. The previous Shenzhou mission, in June 2013, included China's first woman astronaut, Liu Yang, who became a national heroine.
RBI penalises ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank for violating KYC norms
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed penalties on Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank for violating guidelines related to “know your customer” (KYC) rules. The RBI has imposed a penalty of Rs5 crore on Axis Bank, Rs4.5 crore on HDFC Bank and Rs1 crore on ICICI Bank.During March and April 2013, RBI said it investigated scrutiny of accounts, compliance systems, internal control and processes of these banks from the private sector at their corporate offices and braches. The investigation revealed violation of certain regulations and instructions including :- non-observance of certain safeguards in respect of arrangement of "at par" payment of cheques drawn by cooperative banks. non-adherence to certain aspects of know your customer (KYC) norms and anti-money laundering (AML) guidelines like risk categorisation and periodical review of risk profiling of account holders. Non-adherence of KYC for walk-in customers including for sale of third party products, omission in filing of cash transaction reports (CTRs) in respect of some cash transactions, sale of gold coins for cash beyond Rs50,000. Not obtaining of permanent account number (PAN) card details or form 60/61 as required.
World's Highest Density Of Millionaires In Qatar
On 10 June According to the Boston Consulting Group’s (BCG) 13th Annual Global Wealth Management Report ,Qatar has the highest density of millionaires in the world, with 14.3 pc of the oil-rich Gulf nation's population holding private wealth of $1 mn.The figure shows 143 out of every 1,000 households in Qatar holding private wealth of at least $1 million, much higher than the global average.Kuwait ranks third with 11.5%, while Bahrain (4.9%) and the UAE (4.0%) rank seventh and ninth, respectively.
