China reopens Nathu La route

China has confirmed “resumption” of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nathu La route. Kailash Mansarovar yatra via Nathu La was not undertaken last year after the Chinese govt cited “unfavourable conditions” to ensure safe & smooth conduct of the yatra on this route. The yatra was stopped by China in the aftermath of the military face-off with India last year at Doklam.


Abdul Hamid re-elected as president of Bangladesh

Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid has been re-elected for a second term. Earlier, the ruling Awami League (AL) nominated Abdul Hamid for his re-election as the country’s president.


Over 2000 people play Shankh at Rajim Kumbh Mela to create world record

A record was set on the second day of Rajim Kumbh Mela in Chhattisgarh after over 2,100 saints and locals blew ‘shankh’ (conch shells) together. Golden Book of World Records certified the record. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh had inaugurated Rajim Kumbh Mela and Ganga Aarti performance at banks of river Mahanadi in Gariyaband’s Rajim.


PM Modi conferred with highest Palestinian honour

In a special recognition of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contribution to relations between India and Palestine, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas conferred the “Grand Collar of the State of Palestine” on him after the conclusion of the bilateral meeting. The Grand Collar is the highest order given to foreign dignitaries- such as Kings, Heads of State/Government and persons of similar rank.


Abhilasha Kumari sworn in as first women Chief Justice of Manipur HC

Abhilasha Kumari was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. She was administered oath of office by Governor Najma Heptulla at the Raj Bhavan. With this, she became first women and third full-time Chief Justice of Manipur High Court.


Mumbai 12th richest city globally

India’s financial capital Mumbai, with a total wealth of $950 billion, has been named among the top 15 wealthiest cities globally, while New York topped the list. Mumbai which also features among the top 10 cities in terms of billionaire population is the home to 28 billionaires. Going forward, Mumbai is expected to be the fastest growing city in terms of wealth growth over the next 10 years.

According to a global traffic scorecard published annually by Inrix, a company that aggregates and analyzes traffic data collected from vehicles and highway infrastructure, the top 10 most congested cities in the world, 2017 are:

The most congested country in the world is Thailand, with drivers spending an average of 56 hours in peak-hour congestion. The top 10 most congested countries, 2017 are:
