India win T-20 Blind World Cup – 2017
Defending Champion India thrashed arch rivals Pakistan by 9 wickets in the final to be crowned champions of T-20 Blind Cricket World Cup 2017 in Bengaluru. Chasing a target of 198 runs, India (200/1) achieved it in 17.2 overs comfortably at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The two teams had already clashed in the 2012 edition final as well with India emerging triumphant.


Neelu Rohmetra becomes first Woman Director of am IIM
The Govt has appointed heads of 10 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) including the first woman to head one of the 20 premier B-School in the Country. Professor Neelu Rohmetra of Jammu University is the first woman to be appointed Director of an IIM at Sirmaur. She specializes in HRD and cross-culture management professor.


Diego Maradona Gets Ambassador Role at FIFA 2017
The FIFA governing body has named Argentina’s former soccer player Diego Maradona as the new Ambassador of the FIFA. The 55 year old will have major role in FIFAs activities to promote the game across the globe and will also be involved in relevant development projects. The FIFA is the international governing body of association football, futsal and beach.


International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The International Day of Women and Girls in science was observed across the globe on 11 February 2017. The day comes as an opportunity for all to take a stand for girls and women in science. Science and gender equality are vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development. In 2016, the UNESCO launched a Manifesto “For Women in Science”, with the L’oreal Foundation.


Japanese manga legend Jiro Taniguchi dies at 69
Jiro Taniguchi, a legend in Japan’s comic art of manga, died in Tokyo on Saturday (11th February) at the age of 69, leaving behind an international following for his exquisite line drawing of scenes from everyday life. Just over a decade later after starting this art, he hit the International Magna Scene with “A Distant Neighbourhood,” about a Japanese salary man who travels back to his Childhood.
