India is the second highest sender of Foreign Students in US
With 1,86,000 Indian students currently studying in the United States, India is the second highest sender of foreign students to the US, next only to China. US consul general in Kolkata, Craig Hall, stated that the United States is the top destination for foreign students worldwide and the number of Indian students in the US has more than doubled in the last 10 years.


Donald Trump meets Kim Jong Singapore
The historic delegation-level talks between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is underway in Singapore. Before they met for delegation-level talks, the two leaders held a brief one-on-one meeting at the Capella Hotel in Sentosa Island.


Simran-Ritika win Mauritius Open
India’s young women’s doubles pair of Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker won the Mauritius International title. This was just the second international tournament that Singhi and Thaker had participated in this year.


RBI to raise $30-35 bn via NRI bonds

Nadal won 11th French Open title
Rafael Nadal claimed an 11th French Open title in Men’s singles final in Paris after defeating Austrian Dominic Thiem in straight sets 6-4 6-3 6-2. The 32-year-old world number one now has 17 Grand Slam titles, just three behind great rival Roger Federer.


Maharashtra most vulnerable state
Maharashtra has been ranked the most vulnerable state in the draft National Disaster Risk Index, followed by West Bengal & Uttar Pradesh. States like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh that are prone to natural calamities have been ranked relatively lower.


Vladimir Putin highest state honour of China
Chinese President Xi Jinping presented China’s first friendship medal to Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a special event held at the Great Hall of People, China. his Friendship medal has been claimed to be the highest state honour of China. Xi Jinping praised Vladimir Putin’s contributions to build a peaceful world.


11th World Hindi Conference to be Held in Mauritius
The 11th World Hindi Conference (WHC) is being organized from August 2018 in Mauritius by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in association with the Government of Mauritius. The main theme of the Conference is ‘Hindi Vishwa Aur Bharatiy Sanskriti’.
