Winners of ‘1st Print Biennale India 2018’ given away awards in New Delhi
Lalit Kala Akademi, organised the award ceremony of the ‘1st Print Biennale India 2018 (PBI)’ in New Delhi. The Chief Guest of the programme was Ms Sujata Prasad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Culture. Arup Kumar Kuity (Andhra Pradesh), Satya Narayana Gavara (Andhra Pradesh), Preya Bhagat (Uttar Pradesh), Purvi Parmar (Gujrat) and Sonal Varshneya (Uttar Pradesh) were given the award in the 1st PBI.
Nitish Kumar Launches 3 Books on Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Movement
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released three books based on Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran movement of 1917.
The books released by Nitish Kumar includes:
1. ‘Mister M K Gandhi Ki Champaran Diary’ by Arvind Mohan
2. ‘Champaran Andolan 1917’ edited by Ashutosh Partheshwar and
3. ‘Pir Muhammad Munis: Kalam Ka Satyagrahi’ collected and edited by Srikant.
World’s Oldest Person passes away at age of 117
The world’s oldest person, a 117-year-old Japanese woman named Nabi Tajima had passed away. Tajima, born on Aug. 4, 1900, was the last known person born in the 19th century. According to the U.S.-based Gerontology Research Group, another Japanese woman, Chiyo Miyako, is now the world’s oldest person.
Barcelona won fourth Copa del Rey in a row
Barcelona became the first team in 85 years to win four straight Copa del Rey titles after defeating Sevilla 5-0 in the final. Luis Suarez scored twice, and Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Philippe Coutinho also made the scoresheet for Barcelona’s record-extending 30th Copa triumph.
Indian women excel at 8th South Asian Judo Championship in Lalitpur
In a historic performance Indian women made clean sweep at 8th South Asian Judo Championship in Lalitpur, Nepal. India won all 4 Gold Medals in women’s section. India’s L Sushila Devi won the gold in the 48kg category defeating Humaira Ashiq of Pakistan in the final. The second gold was won by Kalpana Devi Thoudam, who beat Maryam of Pakistan in the 52kg category.
