World Meteorological Day 2017 Observed Globally

The World Meteorological Day 2017 was observed globally on 23 March 2017 with the theme “Understanding Clouds”. The Day is organised every year by World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and is celebrated globally. The theme highlights the enormous importance of clouds for weather climate and water. It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and well being of society.

India Ranked 131 on Human Development Index

According to the UN Development Programme’s Human Development Report 2016, released on March 21, 2017. India ranked 131 of 188 when it comes to the Human Development Index (HDI). This put it in the medium category. The Index is based on three dimensions, life expectancy at birth, mean years of schooling and expected years of schooling and gross national income per capita. India’s HDI at 0.624, was behind Sri Lanka and the Maldives in South Asia. Norway, Australia and Switzerland are placed in top three positions.

86th Martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev

On 86th martyrdom day of India’s freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev the whole nation remembering the legends on March 23 PM. Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on the day of their death anniversary. It could be mentioned here that Bhagat Singh along with Sukhdev and Rajguru played a major part in the freedom struggle of India against the British empire. The trio were hanged to death in Lahore Jail on March 23. 1931.

Ankur Khanna appointed as Chief Financial Officer of ICC

Ankur Khanna was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of International Cricket Council (ICC). Khanna will join the ICC by the end of March 2017. He will relocate to the ICC headquarters in Dubai. Presently he is serving Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Airasia India, the post he had held for the last 12 months.

Indian cities among cheapest globally Economist Intelligence Unit

Four Indian cities among the cheapest to live in globally, while Singapore has been ranked as the most expensive for the fourth consecutive year, as per a report by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Bangalore (3rd) place, Chennai (6th), Mumbai (7th) and New Delhi (10th) have been ranked by EIU among the 10 cheapest cities in the world. Almaty has been ranked as the cheapest city in the World followed by Lagos.
