Abducted Chhattisgarh Congress chief, son dead
On May 25 naxels kidnapped a Chhattisgarh PCC Chief Nanda Kumar and his son Dinesh.Their dead bodies were found on 26 May 2013 in Jeeram Ghati of Darbha area. Former Union Minister V. C. Shukla and Ajit Jogi are also injured in this attack.Their conditions are very serious.
UIDAI Inaugurated Three New Aadhaar-Enabled Services
On 25 May Dataquest Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) inaugurated three new Aadhaar-enabled services- e-KYC, OTP (one time pin) authentication and Iris authentication, which would in turn help the residents of India in authenticating their identity anywhere and anytime via any digital platform.Apart from this, the UIDAI also announced establishing around 300 permanent enrolment centres, also called Aadhaar Kendras. By September 2013, number of Aadhaar Kendras will increase to around 1000.
Radha Krishna Mathur is new Defence Secretary
On 25 May Senior IAS officer Radha Krishna Mathur has been appointed as new Defence Secretary.He succeeds Shashikant Sharma who has taken over as Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). A 1977-batch IAS officer of Manipur-Tripura cadre, Mathur was serving as Secretary (Defence Production) in the Defence Ministry.
Justice Raveendran is new NBSA Chief
On 25 May Former Supreme Court judge Justice R V Raveendran has been appointed as the new Chairman of the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) , the self regulatory initiative of the News Broadcasters Association (NBA).He succeeds justice (Retd.) J.S. Verma, chairperson of the NBSA, who passed away on 2013 April.NBSA is an independent redressal body set up by the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) and has leading TV news channels as its members.
Veteran Playback Singer TM Soundararajan Died
On 25 May Veteran Tamil playback singer TM Soundararajan died at his residence in Chennai .He had been awarded various honours including the Padmashri and the state government’s Kalaimani. He hailed from Madurai. He was a playback singer for nearly four decades in Tamil cinema. He almost sang for all the leading actors.He had rendered over 5000 cinema and devotional songs. He had last sung in the theme song of the world classical tamil conference in 2010, composed by AR Rahman.
