Pakistan Constitues Federal Counter-Terror Force
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif constituted a federal counter-terrorism force with immediate effect for implementing the National Action Plan on counter-terrorism.The force will work under the defence ministry. It will be deployed across Pakistan and will be responsible for countering terrorism and curb increasing militancy.
Hybrid-Electric Airplane Successfully Tested In The UK
United Kingdom (UK) has successfully tested first hybrid-electric airplane driven by parallel hybrid electric engine. The airplane was flight tested by researchers from the University of Cambridge, in association with Boeing. Airplane’s parallel hybrid-electric propulsion system has an electric motor along with petrol engine that work together to drive the propeller. Test has shown that it consumes up to 30 per cent less fuel compared to the conventional plane with only petrol engine. The aircraft is also able to recharge its batteries in flight which has been achieved for the first time and considered as an important step toward cleaner, low-carbon air travel.
Ancient Buddhist Stupa and Kushan-era Coins Discovered In Pakistan
Archaeologists have discovered Buddhist sculptures and coins dating back to the 2nd to 5th centuries during ongoing excavation at the site of an ancient Buddhist Stupa in northwest Pakistan.The sculptures were discovered at Bhamala Buddhist complex in Haripur district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during an excavation work.
