Taiwan billionaire launches Asian 'Nobel prize'

Samuel Yin, head of the sprawling Ruentex business empire launched a Tang Prize(Asian Noble prize) and donate a USD 101 million for the Tang Prize on 28 January 2013 at Taipei for fullfilling one of his biggest dream.He hope that the prize will encourage more research that is beneficial to the world and humankind, promote Chinese culture and make the world a better place.


Iran 'successfully sends monkey into space' Iran on 28 January 2013 announced that it had successfully send a monkey to the space.It also declared that the monkey come back to the Earth successfully.The rocket called Pishgam (meaning Pioneer) reached at a height of 120 km (75 miles) for a sub-orbital flight before "returning its shipment intact". The first country to launch the primate into space was US.


UPSC to conduct Combined Defence Services Examination on Feb 17

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is going to conduct the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) – 2013 on February 17 at 41 Centres all over India.E-Admission Certificates are available on the Union Public Service Commission website.Aspirants should download and check their e-admission certificates carefully and bring discrepancy, if any, to the notice of the Commission immediately. Rejection Letters citing the ground(s) for rejection have been issued through e-mails or speed post and also put on Commission’s website.In case the photograph is not printed clear on the e-admission certificates, candidates should carry three photographs (one identical photograph for each session) along with proof of identity and printout of e-admission certificate at the venue of the examination.MOBILE PHONES BANNED:(a) Mobile Phones, Pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises, where UPSC Examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examination.(b) Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangements for safekeeping cannot be assured.


Sri Lanka clinch T20 series against Australia

Sri Lanka won the second and final T20 international against Australia to sweep the short series 2-0 on 28 January 2013.SriLanka won the T20 series.


India , Bangladesh Signed Extradition and Visa Agreements

On 28 January Bangladesh and India signed an extradition treaty and struck a deal to relax business visa restrictions between the neighbouring countries. However, refusal provisions were incorporated into the extradition treaty.Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde signed the agreement with his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir at the end of their bilateral talks.


Mumbai won 40th Ranji Trophy Title

On 29 January Mumbai won its 40th Ranji Trophy title against Saurashtra by an inning and 125 runs in the final at Wankhede at Mumbai .Wasim Jaffar was declared Man of the Match. Ajit Agarkar was the captain of the winning team.
