Syed Muazzem Ali Appointed Bangladesh's New Envoy To India
Bangladesh on 28 September appointed veteran diplomat and former foreign secretary Syed Muazzem Ali as its new High Commissioner to India. Ali served as the foreign secretary during the ruling Awami League's previous 1996-2001 tenure. Syed Muazzem Ali will replace Tariq A. Karim who served as the Bangladesh High Commissioner to India from 2009 to 2014.
Justice H L Dattu Sworn In As 42nd Chief Justice Of India
Justice Handyala Lakshminarayanaswamy Dattu was on 28 September sworn in as the 42nd Chief Justice of India by President Pranab Mukherjee. He will have a tenure of 14 months and will retire on December 2, 2015. He is the second apex court judge to take oath as the Chief Justice of India this year. Justice Lodha took oath in April this year. He joined the Supreme Court as a judge in December 2008.
