SBI MD Sriram Resigns
SBI managing director B Sriram has resigned from the country’s largest lender after his appointment as chief executive of IDBI Bank. The development assumes significance amid reports that insurance behemoth LIC is mulling acquiring a majority stake in the debt-ridden state-owned bank.
Kanwaljeet Jawa appointed as board member of Daikin
Daikin Industries Ltd has appointed its India operations MD & CEO Kanwaljeet Jawa into the board of the parent company. Kanwaljeet Jawa will be the first Indian on the Daikin Industries board. He will be a part of the 10 member board council. Kanwaljeet Jawa joined Daikin India in 2010 as the COO. He was then promoted as the MD & CEO of the Company.
Sagarmala receives Gold Award
The Ministry of Shipping’s flagship programme for port-led-prosperity ‘Sagarmala’ received the ‘Gold Award’ at 52nd Skoch Summit 2018 in New Delhi. The Skoch Awards recognize leadership and excellence in accelerating socio-economic changes.

Anoop Kumar Pandey to replace Rajiv Kumar as UP’s Chief Secretary
Anoop Kumar Pandey would replace Rajiv Kumar as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. Anoop Kumar Pandey is a 1984-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer. He will replace Rajiv Kumar as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. Rajiv Kumar will retire on June 2018. At present Anoop Kumar Pandey is the Industrial and Infrastructure Development Commissioner (IIDC) in Uttar Pradesh.
Pakistan placed on FATF’s grey list
Pakistan has been placed on the Grey list of countries that financially aid terrorism, in Paris by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The placement on to grey list could hurt Pakistan’s economy as well as its international standing.
Norway World’s Best Country in Traffic Safety
According to a report from organization European Transport Safety Council (ETSC), Norway observes the lowest rate of traffic accidents in the world, leaving behind other European countries. Norway accounts for 20 deaths per one million inhabitants which is the lowest death rate in traffic since cars became common way of transportation in the post-war era.
