Tamil Nadu Tops In Rural Job Guarantee Scheme

Tamil Nadu has made use of the current spell of drought to create on all – India record in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) During the financial year of 2016-17, Tamil Nadu emerged as the top state in generation of person days under the scheme. Against the revised target of 35 crore person days the state had recorded about 39.59 person days. The Original target was 31.5 crore person days.
