Hasmukh Adhia appointed non-executive chairman of BoB
Former Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia was appointed as non-executive chairman of Bank of Baroda. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as the part-time non-official director as well as non-executive chairman on the board of Bank of Baroda for a period of three years.


US Officially Closes Jerusalem Consulate
The United States has officially shuttered its consulate in Jerusalem, downgrading the status of its main diplomatic mission to the Palestinians by folding it into the U.S. Embassy to Israel. The U.S. State Department stated that the decision was driven to increase the efficiency and effectiveness in diplomatic engagements.


Anil Kumble re-appointed as chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee
Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble has been reappointed as the Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee for the third consecutive time. This three-year stint will end in 2021 and be his final term as the Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee. Kumble has been the chairman of the committee since 2012.


Arun Jaitley releases book titled ‘Mann Ki Baat – A Social Revolution on Radio’
A book titled, ‘Mann Ki Baat- A Social Revolution on Radio’ was released by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi. The book is a compendium encompassing 50 editions of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on All India Radio.


New Railway Zone Announced For Andhra Pradesh
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announced a new railway zone for Andhra Pradesh, that is the Southern Coast Railway and it will be headquartered in Visakhapatnam. It will be the 18th zone in the country. The new zone will comprise the existing Guntakal, Guntur and Vijayawada divisions that currently fall under the South Central Railway.


Abhinandan Var thaman to be Awarded Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar
Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has been chosen for the first Bhagwan Mahavir Ahimsa Puraskar constituted by the Akhil Bharatiya Digambar Jain Mahasamiti. The award which carries a cash prize of Rs. 2.51 lakh, a memento and a citation will be presented to Abhinandan Varthaman.


Roger Federer Claims 100th ATP Title of his Career
Roger Federer has claimed the 100th ATP title of his career after beating 20-year-old Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships. The 20-time grand slam champion is the second man, after American Jimmy Connors to claim 100 titles.


Nobel Laureate Zhores Alferov Passes Away
Zhores Alferov, a Russian physicist and Nobel Prize laureate, has passed away. He was 88. In 2000, Alferov received the Nobel Prize in Physics together with US scientists Jack Kilby and Herbert Kroemer, for developing semiconductor heterostructures used in high-speed-and optoelectronics. He was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1972, and a full member in 1979.
