Pranay Kumar Verma appointed as India’s Ambassador to Vietnam
Ministry of External Affairs has appointed Pranay Kumar Verma as India’s Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Pranay Kumar Verma is a 1994 cadre Indian Foreign Services Officer and presently working as the Joint Secretary at Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).


Bhagwan Lal Sahni is appointed Chairman of the National Commission for BC
Bhagwan Lal Sahni from Muzaffarpur, Bihar has been appointed as the chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC). The commission consists of one chairman and five Members with the term of three years.


GST collection for February slips to Rs 97,247 crore
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection dropped to ₹97,247 crore in February, slipping below the ₹1 lakh crore mark crossed in January. The decline came amidst the reduction in tax rates on 23 goods and services. The total number of GSTR 3B returns filed for the month of January up to February is 73.48 lakh. GST collection for 2019-’20 fiscal has been budgeted at Rs 13.71 lakh crore.


PM Modi Confers Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes For Science & Tech
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conferred the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes for Science and Technology for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 in New Delhi. There were 34 prize winners.


Punia won a gold medal in International wrestling tournament in Bulgaria
India’s star wrestler Bajrang Punia won a gold medal in the 65kg freestyle final at the Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov International wrestling tournament in Ruse, Bulgaria. Bajrang Punia defeated Jordan Olivier of USA. In the last six international tournaments, this is his 5th win.


Andre Previn, Legendary Composer & 4 Time Oscar Winner Passes Away
Legendary composer and pianist Andre Previn has passed away at the age of 89 in Manhattan, New York, USA. He was a 10-time Grammy Award winner and had won 4 Oscars throughout his lifetime. In 2010 he was honored with a lifetime achievement award. He is known for immortal classics like 1964’s ‘My Fair Lady‘ and 1996’s ‘The Fortunate Cookie.’


Tata Steel Recognised as one of World’s Most Ethical Companies
Tata Steel has received the award as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies. The award has been given by Ethisphere Institute, USA. The company was also recognised 7 times previously and is one of the only two awardees in the ‘Metals, Minerals and Mining’ industry. In 2019, 128 honourees across 21 countries and 50 industries have been recognised.


March 3: World Wildlife Day
World Wildlife Day is observed on 3rd March every year to spread awareness about wildlife. This date was designated as the World Wildlife Day on 20 December 2013 at the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
