ICIJ releases Paradise papers

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has released ‘The Paradise Papers’, a global investigation that reveals the offshore activities of some of the world’s most powerful people and companies. Among 180 countries represented in the data, India ranks 19th in terms of number of names. In all names of 714 Indians have figured in this largest ever black money data leak.


Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore in Egypt to attend World Youth Forum

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore is in Egypt to attend World Youth Forum at Sharam El Shiekh. The five-day forum was inaugurated by the President of Egypt Mr Abdelfateh El Sisi. The Forum aims to provide a platform to the youth from all over the globe to engage with the key global policy makers.


Veteran Actor Mohan Joshi honoured with Vishnudas Bhave award

Renowned Indian film and television actor Mohan Joshi was honoured with the prestigious vishnudas Bhave award for his contribution to the theatre. The award was presented to Joshi by veteran actor Jayant Sawarkar. The award is conferred with memory of Vishnudas Bhave, the founder of Marathi theatre. it comprises a trophy, a citation and a cash prize worth Rs 25,000. Besides plays, Joshi has acted in a number of Marathi and Hindi films including Major Saab, Baghban, Gangaajal, Garv: Pride and Honour and more recently Yeh Hai India.


Poonguzhali becomes First Woman Sr DDG appointed in TERM, DoT

N Poonguzhali has become the first woman to be appointed as senior Deputy Director General, Tamil Nadu, Telecom Enforcement Resource Monitoring (TERM), Department of Telecommunications (DoT). She is an Indian telecom service officer of the 1979 batch and an alumnus of IIT Madras.


Balijatra Festival begins in Cuttack

The annual ‘Balijatra’ festival was inaugurated by Health and Law Minister Pratap Jena at Gadagadia ghat in Odisha on the banks of river Mahanadi. The week-long famous fair on an area of 30 acres on the river bank will continue till November 10. It got the nod from east zone bench of National Green Tribunal for the second time this year.


Aditi Ashok wins in Abu Dhabi for her third LET Title

19 Year old Indian golfer Aditi Ashok made her return to the Ladies European Tour by clinching the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi. It is Aditi’s third LET win in less than 12 months.


Satbir, Manorama win in Elite category at Cyclothon

Satbir Singh and T Manorama Devi emerged victorious in the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s events at ‘Saksham Pedal Delhi’ Cyclothon. The event was organized by Petroleum Conservation & Research Association (PCRA) under technical guidance from Cycling Federation of India. The event was supported by many Oil companies including IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, and ONGC.


China launches two BeiDou-3 navigation satellites

China successfully launched two BeiDou-3 satellites named BeiDou-3 M1 and BeiDou-3 M2 into space on board of single carrier rocket Long March-3B from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern province of Sichuan. These two satellites and carrier rocket were developed by China Academy of Space Technology and China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, respectively.


Indian short film wins award in Montreal

Indian short film “The School Bag”, which tells a story based in Pakistan, has won the Best Short Film Award at the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal (SAFFM). The film is directed by Dheeraj Jindal. The movie’s plot is based in Peshawar and tells a story about the relationship between a mother and her seven-year-old son who wants a new school bag on his birthday, but fate has something else in store for him.


Guinea becomes new member of International Solar Alliance

Guinea handed over country’s instrument accession to the India-initiated International Solar Alliance (ISA). Founder of ISA is Narendra Modi with its headquarters at Gwal Pahari, Gurugram, Haryana.


India, Bangladesh begins joint military combat exercise

The Indian and the Bangladeshi army are all set to take part in an intensive combat exercise “Exercise Sampriti” at India’s Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School at Vairengte in Mizoram from November 6 to 18. This is the 7th edition of the joint training exercise. The military combat exercise is organised to conduct counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in a semi-mountainous jungle terrain to bolster bilateral military ties.
