India ranks 19th in ‘Theft Ranking’
India stands 19th in the ‘Theft Ranking’ for countries with weapons-usable nuclear materials, according to the Nuclear Security Index. The index was released by the US-based Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), which is co-chaired by Sam Nunn and Ernest Moni.


SBI appoints Anshula Kant as Managing Director
The State Bank of India (SBI) said that the government has appointed Anshula Kant as the Managing Director of the bank. She is at present the Deputy Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of India’s leading lender SBI. Her name was recommended by the Bank Boards Bureau for the post.


Anne Hathaway receive Human Rights award
American actress Anne Hathaway will be honoured with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) National Equality Award. The “Bride Wars” actress will receive the award for her humanitarian work that she has done for the society, especially with women and the LGBTQ community.


Mary Kom signed as brand ambassador by BSNL
State-run telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) roped in Indian boxer MC Mary Kom as its brand ambassador for two years. BSNL will run television commercials, print advertisements and tariff plan endorsement with Kom.


NABARD Sanctioned Rs 335 crore to WB
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned an amount of Rs 335 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) to West Bengal. The fund, alloted in August, would be used for 158 minor irrigation projects and 23 flood protection projects.


Saurabh Chaudhary clinches gold in ISSF World C’ship
Sixteen-year-old shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, who recently bagged gold at Asian Games 2018, broke his own junior world record to win the 10m Air Pistol Junior Men event at the ISSF World Championship

Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds passes away
Burt Reynolds, whose good looks and charm made him one of Hollywood’s most popular actors as he starred in films such as ‘Deliverance,’ ‘The Longest Yard’ and ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ in the 1970s and ’80s, has passed away at the age of 82.
