India and Israel Joint Venture LRSAM Missile Successfully Test Fired
India and Israel successfully test fired long range surface to air missile jointly developed which also signifies their cooperation in developing advanced weapon systems. Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) is called Barak 8 missile in Israel. The missile successfully intercepted a manoeuvring air-breathing target mimicking an attacking combat aircraft. Long Range Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) was tested by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in the presence of DRDO (Defence Research & Development Organisation) scientists and officials of Indian Army.
Hanumappa Sudarshan Named India Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2014
Hanumappa Sudarshan of Karuna Trust was named as the winner of the India Social Entrepereur of the Year award 2014. This award was announced by Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a sister foundation of the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Jubilant Bhartia Foundation.
China Unveils Mars Rover After India’s Successful Mangalyaan
China has unveiled its first Mars rover ahead of the 10th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition kicking off in the city of Zhuhai. The Mars rover has a large dish antenna on its back and is also equipped with more solid wheels. China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, also known as Airshow China, is an international aerospace trade show that has been held in Zhuhai every year from 1996. The exhibition sees the showcasing of life-size products, technological exchange and serves as a platform for trade talks. In 2014, the expo will take place from 11 to 16 November 2014.
BJP’s Haribhau Bagde Unanimously Elected Maharashtra Assembly Speaker
Senior BJP legislator Haribhau Bagde was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly. Bagde’s name was announced by pro-tem Speaker Jiva Pandu Gavit in the newly-constituted Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
