Chinese writer Mo Yan wins Nobel Prize for Literature

Chinese writer Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel prize for literature on 11 October 2012 for works which combine “hallucinatory realism” with folk tales, history and contemporary life grounded in his native land.

Anil Kumble appointed chairman of ICC Cricket Committee

Former India captain Anil Kumble was unanimously appointed chairman of ICC`s Cricket Committee by the game`s governing body, replacing West Indies great Clive Lloyd on 11th October 2012.

India lags behind China, Pak in reducing hunger level

India lags behind neighbouring China, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in reducing hunger level, says the 2012 Global Hunger Index (GHI) released by US-based International Food Policy and Research Institute.India is ranked 65th out of 79 countries in GHI, behind China at 2nd place, Pakistan at 57 and Sri Lanka at 37.
