Indian-American Picked for 2nd Highest US Court

“US president Barrack Obama on 11 June nominated Indian-born legal US President Barack Obama on Monday nominated India-born legal luminary Srikanth Srinivasan to the Federal Court of Appeals, the highest ever judicial appointment of an  Indian-American in the US. There are 13 Court of Appeals across the US with 179 judges, and the Washington DC Appeals Court to which Srinivasan has been nominated is considered particularly influential, with Obama himself calling it “the nation’s second highest court””.


Gandhi Kallenbach Letters Go Under Sothe by Hammer

In one of the most significant auctions of Gandhi memorabilia,sotheby’s London in going to put honorable of letters,papers,and photograph which shed light on the life of mahatma, under the hammer on July 10.The archive comprises five decades of correspondence much of it previously unpublished,between gandhiand hermon kallenbach, a german-Jewish body builder and architect who became Gandhi’s closest friend after they met in Johomnesburg in 1904.one batch of letters between Gandhi and kallenbach had come up for sale in 1986 and the Indian government paid $140,000(rs.1.2 crore) for it.The papers are now with the national Archives, and were published in Gandhi’s collected works in 1994.


World Bank projected Indian Economy to grow by 6.9 Per Cent in the Financial Year 2012-13

The World Bank in its report named Global Economic Prospects released on 12 June 2012, projected Indian economy to grow by 6.9% in the financial year 2012-13. The World Bank report predicted India’s growth increasing to 6.9 per cent, 7.2 per cent and 7.4 per cent in fiscal years 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15, respectively.


Assam Government released Vision Document for Women and Children

“Assam government on 12 June 2012 released the vision document for the state’s women and children. The government in the vision document announced to come out with various measures to address the issues like high Maternal Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate in the state.The document talks of reducing Infant mortality rate from 58 to 38 per
1000 live births, reduction in maternal mortality rate (MMR) to 210 per 100000 live birth, reduction of total fertility rate to2.1 per cent, improving child sex ratio, reduction in percentage of anemia in children and women and reducing the percentage of underweight children (0-5 years) by 30 per cent.”


Climbs World’s 14 Tallest Peaks

A Japanese Mountaineer who was nearly killed by an avalanche in 2007 finished a climb in Nepal last month that made him country’s first person to scale the world’s 14 tallest mountains. “Hisotoka Takeuchi” said on 11 June in Kathmandu tops 14 peaks including Everest,k2 and Kanchenjunga are in the Himalaya or Karakorum  ranges of Asia . He is the 30th person to climb all 14 and first climber from Japan.


India May Become 1st Fallen Angel In BRIC

S&P warns India may lose Investment grade Rating . Global rating agency standard &poor’s on 11 June caustioned that India seriously risks losing its investment grade rating.
