Gautham Roy Appointed As The new MD of CPCL
Gautham Roy has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL) on 14 October. He was appointed in place of A S Basu who retired on 31 May 2014. Since June 2014, the charge of Managing Director of CPCL was with S Venkataramana, Director-Operations of CPCL.
Australian Author Richard Flanagan Won 2014 Man Booker Prize
Australian Richard Flanagan, the author of The Narrow Road to the Deep North, has won the Man Booker Prize 2014. Richard Flanagan is the third Australian to win the coveted prize which, for the first time in its 46-year history, is now expanded to include entries from writers of all nationalities, writing originally in English and published in the UK. He joins an impressive literary canon of former winners including fellow Australians Thomas Kenneally (Schindler’s Ark, 1982) and Peter Carey (Oscar & Lucinda, 1988 and The True History of the Kelly Gang, 2001).
‘Untold Story of Indian Public Sector’ Book Released
The Vice President of India M Hamid Ansari on 14 October 2014 released a book entitled Untold Story of the Indian Public Sector authored by Dr UD Choubey, the Director General of SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises). The book throws light on various aspects of working in Public Sectors. The book provides a clear presentation of the overall environment and workings of the Public Sector that the author Dr UD Choubey had experienced.
Lyricist Sameer Honoured with Kishore Kumar Award
Noted lyricist Sameer was awarded with National Kishore Kumar Award for 2012-13 at a function in Madya Pradesh. National Kishore Kumar Award is a yearly award presented by Madhya Pradesh government which carries a cash prize of 2 lakh rupees, citation, shawl and shreefal. It is presented to a person for his contribution in direction, screenplay and lyrics.
