Deepa Malik becomes Asian rank 1

Indian para-athlete Deepa Malik won a gold medal in the F-53/54 category javelin event at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai. With this, she became the Asian rank one in the F-53 category.


Xi Jinping re-elected China President

Xi Jinping was re-elected as President for a second five-year tenure by China’s rubber-stamp parliament. Xi was also elected as the head of the powerful Central Military Commission, the overall high command of the Chinese military. Wang Qishan has been elected as the new Vice President of China.


Philippines formally withdraws from International Criminal Court

The Philippines formally submitted the Letter of Withdrawal from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Letter was submitted by Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations Teodoro Locsin Jr. to UN Cabinet Chief Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, a Representative to Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) released a book titled ‘A Tribute to Jagu’. On the occasion of the 70th independence of the island nation, paid a glowing tribute to former BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya by releasing a book.

President Donald Trump named Larry Kudlow as the next head of the White House National Economic Council. He replaced Gary Cohn. Mr Kundlow is the conservative media analyst who served as his informal economic adviser during the 2016 campaign.


Maharashtra Government bans use of plastic

Maharashtra Government has banned use of plastic in time-bound manner, citing environmental and public health concerns. The ban will include plastic bags, thermocol, disposable cups and plates, cutlery, non-woven polypropylene bags, plastic pouches and packaging.


Tata group Chief Ethics Officer Rajan quits

Tata Son’s Chief Ethics Officer Mukund Rajan will leave the group to evaluate entrepreneurial pursuits in the coming months. Rajan, who was the former MD of Tata Teleservices, was appointed as the group spokesperson and brand custodian in February 2013.
