Veteran Tamil Film Lyricist Vaali Died

On 18 July Famous Tamil lyricist T.S. Rangarajan, popularly known as Vaali, has died in Chennai.Vaali, who started writing in 1958, had penned more than 10,000 songs and worked with three generations of music directors.He has also acted in some movies like “Sathya”, “Hey Ram” and others.In 2007, he was awarded the Padmashri by the Indian government.


Veteran CPM Leader Samar Mukherjee Died

On 18 July Freedom fighter and Veteran CPM leader Samar Mukherjee , whose 100th birthday was celebrated by the party in November last year, died in Kolkatta.He was a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from 1957 to 1971.He was born in Amta in Howrah district on November 7, 1913.Known to be a perfectionist, Mukherjee, represented the party in the lower house of Parliament for three consecutive terms from 1971-84, from the Howrah Lok Sabha constituency. He was elected to Rajya Sabha in 1986.


National Conference Of State Tourism Ministers Held In New Delhi

The National Tourism Ministers’ Conference was held in New Delhi on 18 July 2013.The Conference was chaired by Union Tourism Minister Shri K. Chiranjeevi. State and Union Territory Tourism Authorities were represented in the conference either through their Tourism Ministers and/ or senior officials.The objective of the conference was discussion of the future strategies for realising the complete tourism potential of India.The Departments of Tourism of all States and UTs will consider setting up of a special force such as a Tourist Police, where it does not exist at present, either by taking few companies on deputation from the Police Department or by engaging Ex-Servicemen or Home Guards.During the conference, a new campaign known as “I Respect Women ” was also launched.The campaign was launched with Ministry of Tourism issuing badges in Hindi and ten international languages.
