Indian Origin Doctor Shiv Pande Received Honorary Fellowship In UK
Shiv Pande, an Indian origin doctor has received the honorary fellowship by one of the leading British Universities for his contribution to the community as a general practitioner and medical educator. Shiv Pande has been awarded an honorary fellowship of the University of Central Lancashire.
RBI signed Special Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed a Special Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Under the arrangement, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka can draw upto US$ 1. 1 billion for a maximum period of six months. This special arrangement is in addition to the existing Framework on Currency Swap Arrangement for the SAARC Member Countries. Earlier on 25 March 2015, the Reserve Bank of India had signed a Currency Swap Agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for 400 million US dollar under the existing SAARC Currency Swap Framework within the overall limit of 2 billion US dollar.
Ottappalam To Have India’s First Defence Industrial Park
The Central Government’s Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has approved a proposal from the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation to set up India’s first defence industrial park at Ottappalam. It will have modern common infrastructure facilities aimed at attracting component manufacturers in the defence industry. The project will be established as part of the Make in India, Make in Kerala project.
Amelie Mauresmo Inducted Into Tennis Hall of Fame
France’s Amelie Mauresmo, a two-time Grand Slam winner and former world number one, was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on 18 July. Mauresmo, who is now Andy Murray’s coach, won the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006 and spent 39 weeks at No. 1 in the WTA rankings. She won 25 singles titles and was a silver medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
