Indian-American Srinivasan Sworn In As Top US Court Judge

On 18 June 2013,Indian-American legal luminary Sri Srinivasan was sworn in as a judge in the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, the second most powerful court in the United States after the Supreme Court.Srinivasan from Chandigarh has become the first Indian American judge in the second most powerful court of the country.


World’s Longest and Widest Cable Bridge Inaugurated By China

The world’s longest and widest multi-pylon cable-stayed bridge has opened in China after seven years of construction work.The Jiaxing-Shaoxing Sea Bridge stretches 6.2miles (10 kilometres) over the Hangzhou Bay, in Shaoxing, China.It is mainly supported by two cable-towers, both of which reach 745ft in the air, and has a main body stretching 2,560ft wide.


First-Ever Chinese Film Festival Inaugurated in New Delhi

The Government of India and Government of China joined hands for organising the first ever Chinese film festival in India from 18 June 2013 to 23 June 2013 at Siri fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The Chinese Film Festival is jointly organised by Indo China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC), State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and People’s Republic of China.


39th G8 Summit Held in North Ireland

The 39th G8 summit was held on 17 and 18 June 2013 at Fermanagh county, Northern Ireland .The leaders of the G8 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the US, the UK ,attended the summit.In the G8 countries Summit discussed on syria crisis and advancement of trade, ensuring tax compliance and promoting greater transparency in the use of natural resources among countries.At the end of the two day summit, the leaders of G8 nations agreed on the seven point document and released a joint statement on Syria.The G8 leaders also agreed on providing new fund of nearly 1.5 billion US dollar to help the people affected by the raging conflict. Future of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was not made clear in the released statement.Russia to hold next G8 Summit in Sochi on June 4-5, 2014.
