Nandita Chatterjee Takes Over As New Secretary of HUPA

Nandita Chatterjee on 2 February took over as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA). Her last assignment was as Member-Secretary, National Commission for Women(NCW). Nandita Chatterjee succeeded Anita Agnihotri who was posted to other Ministry on 31 January 2015.


Pakistan Successfully Test Fires New Cruise Missile Ra’ad

Pakistan on 2 February conducted a successful test-fire of the Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) named Ra’ad. The Ra’ad Missile, with a range of over 350 km, has been developed exclusively for launch from Aerial Platforms.This missile system has enabled Pakistan to achieve a greater strategic standoff capability on land and at sea.


Arvind Kumar Jain is new UP Police DG

Arvind Kumar Jain was appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police. He will serve the post for just two months as he is due to demit the office on 31 March 2015. Jain succeeded Arun Kumar Gupta who retired as the DG Police of Uttar Pradesh on 31 January 2015.


World Wetlands Day was Observed On 2 February

World Wetlands Day was observed across the world on 2 February. The theme for the world wetland day 2015 is Wetlands for our future. This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands also called as Ramsar Convention on 2 February 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar. For first time, WWD was celebrated in year 1997 and since then it is observed every year.
