EPRO lowers interest rate on EPF to 8.65% for FY 17

Employees provident Fund Organization (EPFO) decided to lower the interest on EPF deposits for the current fiscal to 8.65%, from 8.8% provided in 2015-16, for its over four crore subscribers. The EPFO’s apex decision making body the central Board of Trustees (CBT), has taken a decision to lower interest rate to 8.65 percent for the current fiscal 2016-17 from 8.8 in 2015,2016.


GOA Celebrated 55th liberation Day

GOA celebrated its 55th liberation Day on 19 Dec, 2016.  On this day in 1961 Goa was liberated from Portuguese rule after a prolonged freedom struggle and military operation.It was granted state hold in 1987. Later on it went ahead to become one of the richest and highest per capita in come states for the country.


Lanura is first village to go cashless in J&K

1. Lanura in Budgam district has become the first village to go ‘cash less’ in Jammu & Kashmir.
2. At least one member of each family in the village has been trained by using  the Electronic Payment System (EPS)
3. It was achieved due to the efforts of the CSC e-Governance Services India limited and the National Informatics centre.


Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah inaugurates first air ambulance service in Bengaluru

1. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah inaugurated state’s first air ambulance services at HAL air port in the state capital Bengaluru.
2. The air ambulance Service has fleet three nearly built helicopters which are specially designed to fulfill the requirements of the patients while transporting them from one place to another.


Noted economist saumitra Chaudhuri passed away

1. Noted economist and former member of erst while planning commission saumitra Chaudhuri passed away due to lung cancer, He was 62.
2. He was appointed member of the planning commission in June 2009 and was one of the longest serving members of the planning commission.
3. He also had served as chairman of the committee for formulation of All Industry Rates of Duty Draw back. (2005 – 06 to 2009 – 10) in the Union Ministry of Finance.


India and Kyrgyzstan sin 6 agreements in various fields

India and Kyrgyzstan have signed 6 Memoranda of understanding (MoU)/ agreements including in the fields of tourism, agriculture and food industry etc. These agreements were signed after delegation level talks between prime minister Narendra Modi and Visiting president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Sharshenovich  Atambayev in New Delhi. Besides both leaders also issued joint statement.
Signed agreements are:
i.MoU cooperation in the in the field of tourism.
ii.MoU in the field of cooperation in youth exchange.
iii.MoU on cooperation in the field of youth development.
iv.MoU on exchange of information on training programmes of diplomats
v.Agreements on Cooperation in the filed of agriculture and food Industry.
vi.MoU on Cooperation in the field of Broad Casting and exchange of audio visual programmers.


PM unveiled first ever Indian Institute of skills in Kanpur

1. PM Narendra Modi laid foundation stone of the counting’s first Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Kanpur.
2. Kanpur, Uttarpradesh to make India the skill capital of the world.
3. He also inaugurated the Kaushal Pradarshini (Skill Exhibition) for the youth of Uttarpradesh to portray major skill development initiatives of the Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry.
