A.K. Verma Appointed as New CBI Chief

Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma was appointed as director of CBI on 19January 2017. Verma’s name was cleared by a three-member selection panel headed by PM Narendra Modi and Comprising  Chief Justice of India J.S. Kehar and Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Mallikharjuna Kharge as members. At present Gujarat-Cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana is the acting director of CBI


The “black hole man of India” passes away

Veteran Indian Scientist CV. CV, Vishveshwara  and pioneer in the discovery of black hole in India died of prolonged illness. He was 78. He worked extensively on the theory of black holes and made major contributions to this field of research since its very beginning.


Govt launches ShaGun-a Web-Portal for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

The HRD (Human Resource Development) Minister Prakash Javadekar launched a dedicated Web portal ‘ShaGun’ for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan at New Delhi Today (20 January 2017). ShaGun aims to capture and showcase innovations and progress in Elementary Education sector of India by continuous monitoring of the flagship scheme-Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).


Suresh Prabhu Unveils Mission 41 K Energy Plan

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on 19 January 2017, Unveiled a Plan to save Rs.41,000 crore over 10 years through an integrated energy management system. According to Indian Railways  Minission 41K initiative, the national career will electrify 24,000 km of rail tracks over the next 5 years by doubling the annual rate of electrification from 2,000km to 4,000 km in the next two years.


Jan Aushadhi: An Initiative Govt of India

Jan Aushadhi is a campaign launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals in association with Central Pharma Public Sector undertakings, to provide  quality medicines at affordable prices in the masses. Jan Aushadhi stores have been set up to provide generic drugs, which are available at lesser prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy as expensive branded drugs.
