India Ranks 24th In Environmental Democracy Index

India has ranked 24th out of 70 countries in the first Environmental Democracy Index (EDI).The list launched by Washington-based World Resources Institute (WRI) and Access Initiative. In the first edition of this index, Lithuania has topped among the 70 countries. The index evaluates countries based on recognised international standards including 75 legal and 24 practice indicators.


Union Cabinet Approved Continuation of PSLV Programme

The union cabinet on 21 May gave its approval for the continuation of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) programme for 15 operational flights (PSLV-C36 to PSLV-C50). All the fifteen operational flights under this programme will be completed during the period 2017-2020. The continuation PSLV programme will enable Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to launch of satellites required for earth observation & navigation and Space Sciences.


Anti-Terrorism Day Observed Across India On 21 May

Anti-Terrorism Day observed Across India on 21 May 2015. The day is celebrated as 24th Death Anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi.The day is marked by a pledge taking ceremony among other activities. Every Year Union Home Ministry administers the Anti-Terror pledge to Government employees. The objective behind the observance of Anti-Terrorism Day is to wean away the people from terrorism and violence.
