Subrahmanyam Jaishankar Appointed As Ambassador Of US

India’s envoy to China Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has been appointed as the next Ambassador to the US and his position in Beijing will be taken by Ashok K Kantha. Jaishankar, who has played a key role in negotiation of US-India nuclear agreement, was named as the next Ambassador to the USA on 14 September 2013. Jaishankar is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) of 1977 batch. He previously has served as India’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from 2009 to 2013.


Assam Government Announced 100 crore Package For Tea Tribes

Assam Government on 22 December announced special package of 100 crore rupees for the upliftment of the tea garden communities. Package amount would be used for the expansion of the education and for increasing the employment opportunities among the tea tribes.The Chief Minister also announced to donate 20 lakh rupees to publish different books related to the tea tribes. Special schemes will be launched soon for the upgradation of employment opportunities. Under the expansion of education, government announced to provide bicycles to students and to connect the rural areas through electricity.
