Maharashtra Cabinet Decided To Implement New Mining Rules

The Maharashtra cabinet has decided to implement new mining rules on 23 October, which is aimed atensuring planned and scientific exploitation of the state’s mineral wealth.New mining norms according to the Maharashtra Minor Minerals (Development and Regulation) Rules 2013, would ensure checks in the mining of minor minerals such as sand, stones, gravel and clay, which are used in construction and other sectors.


British Sculptor Sir Anthony Caro Died

The British sculptor Sir Anthony Caro, considered one of the finest artists of his generation, has died on 23 October. He was 89 years old.Sir Anthony Caro was born on 8 March 1924 at New Malden, England.He won various prizes, which also included 2008’s Jack Goldhill Award for Sculpture for his piece Promenade.Sir Anthony Caro played a crucial role in development of 20th Century sculpture.In the year 1997, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sculpture.In May 2000, he was given the Order of Merit which recognises great achievement in the fields of the arts, learning, literature and science.On 9 March 2004, he was elected as the Senior Member of the Royal Academy.


Shah Rukh Khan Appointed South Korean Ambassador

Bollywood actor , Shah Rukh Khan was appointed goodwill ambassador for South Korea on 23 October.He was appointed as the public diplomat as well as an ambassador of India’s soft power.The actor officially accepted the title and plans on visiting the nation before January of 2014.
