ISSF World Cup Pooja Ghatkar gets Bronze

Indian Shooter Pooja Ghatkar made the country proud on 24 February as she clinched the bronze medal in the women’s 10 mt Air Rifle event in New Delhi at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup. The 28-year-old woman shot a score of 228.8 to finish third in the finals and clinch her first medal at a Shooting World Cup. China’s Meng Yang Shi bagged gold medal and set a new world record with score of 252.1. While Dong Lijie settled for silver score of 248.9 in the finals.


Vivek Chaand Sehgal named Ey. Entrepreneur of the year 2016

Vivek Chaand Sehgal, the 60-year-old Chairman of auto parts maker Motherson Sumi systems Ltd, has been named Indian Entrepreneur of the year 2016 by EY, the consulting firm formerly known as Ernst & Young. Infosys Ltd co-founder Nandan Nilekani was honored with a lifetime achievement award for spearheading India’s Aadhaar project as head of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).


Abhijit Sarkar appointed Vice President of AHF

Malaysia headquartered Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has appointed Abhijit Sarkars as Vice President and also the Chief of AHF commercial and TV Committee> He led the group in promoting various sports in India by sponsoring both the Indian National Cricket Teams as well as Indian Hockey Team. Sarkar has served as the Head of Corporate Communications, Corporate Affairs and Relations and the Sports Division at Sahara India Pariwar since 2004.


Shilpa Shetty as Swachh Bharat Brand Ambassador

Indian Film actress, producer, former model Shilpa Shetty appointed as the Brand Ambassador for cleanliness initiative Swachh Bharat Mission by the Central Govt, It was announced by Director of Swachh Bharat Mission and Urban Development Ministry Joint Secretary Praveen Prakash. Swachh Bharat Mission’s aim is to make India open defecation free by 2019.


India clears a mega missile deal with Israel

A Rs.17,000 crore deal has been cleared by the government for jointly developing with Israel a Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MR-SAM) for the army, reflecting India’s fast growing defence ties with the Jewish country. The project will be implemented by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Israel Aircraft Industry.
