Chandramauli appointed as Chairman of PCI
Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad, who was the former Supreme Court Judge has been appointed as the Chairman of the Press Council of India (PCI) for the second time. The decision was taken by a committee of three members, headed by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.


Nima Jangmu Sherpa scales 3 highest mountains sets world record
Nima Jangmu Sherpa, a Nepali woman created a world record by scaling three highest mountains in a single climbing season. The 28 year old Nima Jangmu has become only woman in the world to climb three highest peaks in Nepal above 8,000 meters in one season within 25 days.


Archery World Cup Stage II 2018 Starts in Turkey
The second stage of Archery World Cup 2018 has been started in Antalya, Turkey. India opened its account with a silver and a bronze medal in the compound section. India’s women compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Muskan Kirar and Divya Dhayal recovered from a poor start to lose to their Chinese Taipei opponents by three points to settle for a silver.

Eminent Gujarati writer and humourist Vinod Bhatt died following a prolonged illness. He was 80.


LCU L54: Indian Navy commissions fourth ship of Landing Craft Utility MK-IV
Indian Navy inducted Landing Craft Utility MK-IV LCU vessel L54 at Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Island. It is fourth of total eighth Mark IV LCU vessels to be inducted into Indian Navy. The Mark IV LCU vessels are further improved version of Mark III LCU vessels presently being used by Indian Navy. These total 8 vessels under Mark IV category have been ordered by Indian Navy from GRSE.


Barbados elects Mia Mottley as 1st female Prime Minister
The Caribbean island of Barbados has elected Mia Mottley as its first female Prime Minister since gaining independence from the UK in 1966. Mottley’s Barbados Labour Party won all 30 seats in the country’s Parliament, coming to power for the first time in a decade.
