Manohar Lal Khattar Sworn In As Haryana Chief Minister

Manohar Lal Khattar was on 26 October sworn in as new Chief Minister of Haryana, where BJP has formed government for the first time on its own. Khattar a first time MLA, represents Karnal constituency in the Haryana assembly. He is Haryana’s first non-jat chief minister in 18 years. Khattar is the 10th chief minister of the state, which was created November 1, 1966.


South African Footballer Senzo Meyiwa Died

South Africa’s Football captain and Goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa has died on 26 October after being shot. Senzo Meyiwa played for Orlando Pirates based in the Parktown district of Johannesburg as a goalkeeper. Meyiwa made his debut for South Africa on 2 June 2013. He had played in South Africa’s last four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.


Jammu & Kashmir Minister Sham Lal Sharma Resigned

Jammu, Sham Lal Sharma, senior Congress leader and Jammu and Kashmir minister for public health engineering, irrigation and flood control, was resigned from his office. Sharma, a Congress legislator from Akhnoor and also known as firebrand party leader cited alleged sabotage of regularisation of daily wagers as a reason for tendering his resignation.


SBI Unveiled `mPassBook’ Facility On Smartphone

The nation’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) launched a facility called ‘mPassBook’, on its ‘State Bank Anywhere’ mobile application, for its retail banking users. ‘mPassBook’ is an electronic application of a physical passbook for savings bank and current accounts. The facility is currently available on Android phones but would soon be available on iOS and Blackberry phones too. The facility empowers users to view their transaction history on their smartphone and maintain an entire year’s historical data on it.
