U.R. Rao inducted into Satellite Hall of Fame
U.R. Rao, who led the country’s space programme between 1984 and 1994, has become the first Indian to be inducted into the prestigious Satellite Hall of Fame, Washington. He joins the elite company of Arthur C. Clarke and 49 other star space scientists.He was conferred the rare honour on March 19 at a ceremony organised by the Society of Satellite Professionals International.Dr. Rao was Secretary, Department of Space, and the ISRO chairman for 10 years. Currently, he is the chairman of the governing council of the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad.
Veteran Lensman Pranlal Patel Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award
On 28 March The 2nd National Photo Awards- 2011-12 were conferred by the Speaker, Lok Sabha, Ms. Meira Kumar to eminent photojournalists at a function held in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.The Life-Time Achievement Awards were given to eminent photographers Shri Pranlal Patel, Shri T.S. Nagarajan and Shri T.N.A. Perumal.In the Professional Category, the ‘Best Professional Photographer of the Year 2011-12’ has been given to Shri Salil Bera.
