India Ranks 119 On 2015 FM Global Resilience Index

India has been ranked a low 119 out of 130 countries on an index that measures business resilience of nations based on economic, risk quality and supply chain factors, dropping seven notches from last year, reports PTI from New York. The 2015 FM Global Resilience Index has been topped by Norway for being the country best suited for companies seeking to avoid disruptions in their global supply chain operations.


Union Government Extends National Food Security Act deadline By 6 Months

Union Government again has extended rolling out deadline for National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 by six months. The deadline, which has already been extended twice for implementing the food law, was ending on April 4. The extension will help remaining states adopt and implement the law within next six months. Only 11 states and Union Territories have so far implemented the National Food Security Act which was passed by Parliament in September 2013. The rest 25 states/UTs have not implemented it yet.


K.N. Tripathi Sworn In as Governor of Mizoram

West Bengal and Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi took additional charge of Mizoram. He was sworn in as 16th Governor of Mizoram on 4 April 2015. Justice Michael Zothankhuma of the Gauhati High Court administered oath of office to him at Raj Bhavan in Aizawal. Tripathi was given additional charge of Mizoram after Union Government had sacked then Governor Aziz Qureshi.


Minor Planet Named As 4538 Vishyanand After Indian Chess Legend Viswanathan Anand

India’s first chess grandmaster, Vishwanathan Anand has been granted the honor of having a minor planet named after him. With this privilege, Anand joins former world chess champions Alexander Alekhine and Anatoly Karpov who have had a similar honour bestowed on them.The minor planet, now known as Vishyanand, was previously identified as planet 4538 and is located somewhere between the planets of Mars and Jupiter. Minor planet 4538 Vishyanand was discovered on 10 October 1988 by Japanese astronormer Kenzo Suzuki. Initially, the planet was unnamed for almost 10 years.
