Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan Died

Veteran Congress leader and Kerala Assembly Speaker G Karthikeyan was died on 7 March in Bangalore, Karnataka. He was 66. Karthikeyan was a prominent Congress leader in Kerala. He had started his political career through Kerala Students Union (KSU), the student outfit of Congress.He had been the state president of Kerala Students Union (KSU) and Youth Congress before becoming the vice-president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee. He had been elected to the state assembly in 1982, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011. In Congress government headed by A K Antony in 1995, Karthikeyan had been power minister. He had served as civil supplies minister in the Congress government in 2001. Karthikeyan was elected as the Speaker of Kerala state Legislative in 2011, after Congress returned to power.


NPCI links 15 crore Bank Accounts with Aadhaar Numbers

National Payments Corporation (NPCI), the country’s umbrella body for all retail payments system, has reached a new milestone after successfully linking as many as 15 crore bank accounts with the Aadhaar numbers, moving closer to map the overall 17 crore DBT accounts. The current focus is on linking bank accounts of 17 crore DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) beneficiaries with Aadhaar before 30 June 2015.
