RC Tayal Appointed as new DG of National Security Guard

Senior IPS officer and CRPF Special Director General RC Tayal has been appointed as the new chief of the elite counter-terror force National Security Guard (NSG) on 8 June. R.C. Tayal, 1980-batch officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS), was the Special Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) till now. He replaced J.N. Choudhury who retired as NSG DG on 31 May 2015.


K.V.Chowdary is new Central Vigilance Commissioner

Former Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, K.V. Chowdary appointed as the new Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), while the senior-most Information Commissioner, Vijai Sharma, is the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC). K.V. Chowdary is a former Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). He retired as CBDT chief in October last year and since then has been working as adviser to Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is probing black money cases. Vijai Sharma, a former Environment Secretary, has been working as Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commissioner since 2012.


Union Environment Ministry Approved Coastal Road Project For Mumbai

Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on 8 June cleared the Coastal Road Project of Mumbai, Maharashtra. This 12000-crore project will cover 35.6 km between Nariman Point and Kandivali, along the western seafront. The project will begin in mid-August 2015. The project will help in decongesting Mumbai roads and will also create 91 hectares of green space.


Legendary Telugu Writer Dasaradhi Rangacharya Died

Dasaradhi Rangacharya,the Legendary Telugu writer passed away in Hyderabad. He was 87. Dasaradhi was on 24 August 1928 in Khammam District erstwhile Hyderabad State now in Telangana. He had actively participated in fight against the Nizam’s autocratic rule and also took part in the Telangana Armed Struggle till Hyderabad was liberated in Operation Polo. His novels Chillara Devullu (The Lesser Deities)-1969, Moduga Poolu (Fire Flowers)-1971 are well known for influencing Telugu people against oppression by the rulers. He was awarded Sahitya Academy award for Chillara Devullu.
